Detailed Program

Day 1 – ARRIVE & OVERNIGHT AT ENTEBBE

Arrival at Entebbe International Airport Meet your safari guide and Driver who will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your Hotel. Your guide will brief you about your safari ahead of time and our advise is best for you to change monies on this day. Overnight at your Entebbe Hotel

Day 2 – DRIVE TO MURCHISON FALLS (282kms / 4hrs) via MASINDI CHIMPS SANCTUARY

Breakfast and immediately after drive to Murchison Falls National Park through the south by driving from Kampala through Masindi Chimpanzee Sanctuary and lunch en-route. Thereafter proceed on to the Park with game viewing drive and arrive at your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 – FULL DAY IN MURCHISON FALLS NP

Early morning game viewing drive in the Park. Murchison Falls National Park is popular for its game drives in the northern sector known as Paraa where you get a chance of spotting the big five. The high light of activities in this National Park is the 2 hour boat cruise to the bottom of the falls where River Nile squeezes itself into a narrow gorge. For keen birder, Murchison Falls is one of the places where you can spot the rare shoebill stork and bird the royal miles as well. All meals and overnight at your lodge.

Day 4 – DRIVE TO KIBALE NATIONAL PARK (148kms / 2hrs 30mins)

Breakfast and head to Kibale NP. You will leave Murchison Falls NP through the Bungugu gate. This route is very scenic as it takes you through rift valley’s Albertine Escarpments and Lake Albert, via Ibanda – Kamwenge route to Fort Portal. The Country-side is beautiful with traditional homesteads and farms all along. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the legendary “Mountains of the Moon.” The Ruwenzori Mountains. Arrive in good time for lunch at your accommodation. In the afternoon go for a guided walk in Bigodi wetlands sanctuary, a community-developed and run conservation program. The proceeds from tourism at this site go directly to community members and pay for a day care, supporting sustainable agriculture and other income-generating program. The sanctuary is home to a huge variety of bird and animal species - Birds and mammals in Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, like the Shining Blue Kingfisher, Blue Throated Roller and other rare species and also find the fruiting trees, which attract Narina Trogon, Pied Hornbill, Yellow Spotted, Hairy Breasted and Yellow-Billed Barbets. Afternoon at leisure as you enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings. Dinner and overnight at your Hotel / Lodge.

Day 5 – UGANDA - CHIMPANZEE TREKKING in KIBALE FOREST

A relatively early morning start, to report to the ranger station in Kibale National Park at 08.00am to track habituated Chimpanzees – these delightful apes, more closely related to humans than to any other living creature, are tremendous fun to watch as they squabble and play in fruiting trees. This incredibly diverse forest is also a home to over 13 species of primates including red Colobus monkey, the rare L’Hoest, blue monkey, grey mangabey, pottos, black faced vervet monkeys, baboons and also bush babies. A network of shady forest trails provides much to delight botanists and butterfly lovers, while birders are in for a treat with 335 species recorded including the endemic Prigogine’s ground thrush. The elusive forest elephant, smaller and hairier that its savannah counterpart, moves seasonally into the developed part of the park, while other terrestrial mammals include buffalo, giant forest hog and a half dozen antelope species. Lunch at the lodge and in the afternoon at leisure enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings. Dinner and overnight at your accommodation.

Day 6 – DRIVE FROM KIBALE NP TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NP (107Kms / 2hrs)

After Breakfast, depart and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enter the park via the Northern crater Area via Hoima and Kasese. With beautiful lakes and rich grasslands set deep in the crater valley, this is truly the most breathtaking scenery in the park. Queen Elizabeth is host to a large variety and volume of wildlife. Game drive en-route to your lodge.

Day 7 – AM GAME VIEWING + PM KAZINGA CHANNEL BOAT CRUISE- (2hrs)

Enjoy an early breakfast and leave for a morning game drive in the Park. The drive through the park is. The Park has several spots of well maintained game viewing tracks. This park has got over 200 kms of well maintained game tracks .The best time for game drives is in the morning hours where there are high chances of seeing elephants, buffaloes, lion and a variety of antelopes and other wildlife you can see. Launch cruise on the Kazinga channel: The boat cruise on the Kazinga channel usually lasts for 2 hours and it gives visitors the opportunity to see a variety of yawning hippos in water, water birds, buffaloes, elephants, zebras, the Uganda-kobs, topis, water bucks, bush bucks, reed bucks, duiker, mongoose, swamp antelopes, spotted hyena, warthog, forest hog and in difficult routes in the south. All meals and overnight at your lodge.

Day 8 – LEAVE QUEEN E. NP - UGANDA and CROSS OVER TO RWANDA ( 246 kms / 6hrs)

Depart after breakfast for Rwanda with packed lunches, approximately six hours drive time via Cyanika border to Rwanda and on to Volcanoes NP for dinner and Overnight at your Hotel / Lodge.

Day 9 – GORILLA TRACKING + TWIN LAKES VISIT

Early breakfast and proceed to the National Park headquarters for a Gorilla tracking experience in the Volcanoes National Park. Once you spot them you are allowed to spend an hour watching. This is perhaps one of the most breathtaking wildlife experiences on earth!!! You get so close to these awesome giant primates. Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga is a magical experience. The trekking may be fairly strenuous; sometimes up to six hours or longer at a relatively high altitude. Your driver guide to request a shorter group for you if you cannot trek far OR if you have another activity in the afternoon. It is important to bring good hiking boots, long trousers, gloves for protection against stinging nettles, some snacks & sweets as well as sufficient water to re-energize yourselves. After Gorilla tracking return to your Lodge for lunch and in the afternoon via the Twin Lakes of Lakes Bulera and Ruhondo , no additional costs on this. You will drive to the view point where you will view the two lakes and the entire beautiful scenery of the five Volcanic mountains stretching all the way to Congo DRC. This provides very good photos covering the ONLY HOME of the "GORILLAS IN THE MIST" in World! Dinner and overnight at your Hotel / Lodge

Day 10 – DRIVE TO KIGALI – GENOCIDE MEMORIAL > CITY TOUR > DEPART - (110kms / 2hrs)

Breakfast at your Hotel and thereafter dive back to Kigali City and time allowing enjoy last-minute shopping around the City especially at Caplaki Art and craft shops followed by a transfer to Kigali Airport for departure flight.
